I have resided in Chillicothe
for the past 20 years. I was born and raised in
southern Ohio, but residing in Columbus for the birth of my son, Nathanael.
Seeking the comfort and security of a smaller community, and
expressing a desire to be closer to extended family, we chose to relocate
to Chillicothe and have been here ever since.
After
relocating, I was fortunate enough to turn my hobby into an income and
worked for a stint as a portrait photographer. Desiring to spend more time with my son, I opted for a change in direction and elected to start my own cleaning business, The Finishing Touch.
What started as a modest endeavor continued to grow and
thrive. Under my leadership, the business grew from one employee to 20 and proudly served the local community.
The flexibility of operating my own business allowed me the opportunity
to undertake the home education of my son. After many successful years
following that path, he was then enrolled at Chillicothe High School.
With Nathanael attending CHS, I felt it was time to pursue
my own education as well, so I sold my business and enrolled at Ohio
University-Chillicothe. With a newfound enthusiasm and desire for knowledge, I then applied to nursing
school. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, and look forward to earning my R.N. as well.
Nathanael graduated from CHS in 2007 and is now attending college.
He is currently pursuing a dual major of Political Science
and Spanish, with a minor in French. His goal is to attain
employment with the United Nations.
I
enjoy volunteerism and have enthusiastically served the local area for the
past 20 years. I have volunteered as a candy striper and participated in highway litter projects. I fully support breast cancer awareness after my mother's unfortunate struggle with the disease. I have also been working
with the Ross County Network for Children. I eagerly anticipate devoting more time to their organization,
as I have recently been named to serve on their Board of Directors.
I am also a strong advocate against domestic violence, and this is what drives my current pursuit of degrees. After graduation, I hope to start or support a center for victims. I envision a place where victims could seek medical treatment and counseling, all under one safe roof. The center would also serve to educate and inform not only the victim, but also the public.
Looking
forward, I hope to continue serving Chillicothe by becoming your Ward
2 Representative for City Council. My experience has demonstrated that I possess sufficient leadership
skills and have the drive to effectively help lead our city. Perhaps more importantly, I have the heart that it takes to make
our wonderful city an even better one for the coming generations.
